Gora Kadan’s Philosophy

We are a new breed of Japanese ryokan
that continues to evolve while upholding traditions
Gora Kadan has created a new type of Japanese ryokan by preserving Japanese traditions and Japanese ryokan culture while incorporating services that are in tune with the times, without being confined to the traditional ryokan framework. The ryokan is in a natural setting and has large public spaces, including a 120-meter-long pillared corridor. Each of its furnishings is carefully considered, reviewed, and renovated every year. We assign a room concierge to each guest group, to provide them with attentive and detailed Omotenashi. Such efforts may seem to go against current trends in the ryokan industry, where an emphasis on economic rationality is becoming the standard. However, the opposite of rationality—an attitude of valuing the spirit of hospitality, which cannot be quantified—is the basis of Omotenashi at Gora Kadan. This is supported and appreciated by guests from throughout Japan and around the world.
A ryokan is a distillation of Japanese culture. For guests who want to experience something uniquely Japanese, a ryokan is the only facility where they can experience all of Japan's clothing, food, and shelter traditions. However, if ryokans do not change with the times, they will have no choice but to disappear into the mists of time. While preserving traditional Japanese ryokan culture, we will always actively incorporate new requests from our guests and materialize them into specific services. Gora Kadan will continue to evolve.
